Sometimes moments of spontaneous worship to God come so unexpectedly.
Like this afternoon. I was just in my kitchen, making chicken and rice soup for dinner, listening to Amy Grant’s Christmas album and singing along.
Then, quite unexpectedly, during the third verse of Hark the Herald Angels Sing, I was suddenly in tears, hands raised, lost in a moment of praising Jesus.
It was just a brief, sincere moment, and I was soon back to chopping carrots and humming along with the next song – but how beautiful it was, too.
Have you ever listened to the lyrics of the rarely-sung third verse? Meditate on this:
Hail the heaven-born Prince of Peace!
Hail the Sun of Righteousness!
Light and life to all He brings,
Risen with healing in His wings.
Christ the highest Heaven adored!
Christ the Everlasting Lord!
Come desire of nations come;
Fix in us Thy humble home.
May you listen to what Jesus is trying to say to your heart this Christmas season. Take a breath in the midst of the busyness, worship Him, and let Him fill your heart.
