Girls, this is just so good, I have to share it with you!

For the last few years, I’ve gotten a lot of headaches – some of them bordering on migraine status. They usually start in my neck, climbing upward into my temples and forehead, accompanied by light sensitivity, dizziness, and nausea. Often I’d wake up with them first thing in the morning… great way to start a day, right?! They might last for hours, hardly touched by over-the-counter pain meds. Even if it didn’t last all day, once it was gone the exhaustion from battling it would knock me down for the rest of the day.

Sound familiar? You too?

Well, let me tell you, I’ve recently discovered two things that have literally changed my life, where headaches are concerned. And I’m so stinkin’ joyous about it, I just want to share it with you!

First, I started taking Magnesium supplements daily.

I honestly don’t even know why I did. I think it was in a moment of desperation one day, trying to find something to make my head stop pounding, and in the fog I thought, Maybe this will help. I later read online that, in fact, magnesium is known to help migraine sufferers!

So I’ve started taking 400 mg a day of Magnesium, divided into a morning dose and a bedtime dose. And let me tell you – it has worked for me!! In recent months, I was having headaches 2 or 3 times a week. In the month that I’ve been taking this supplement regularly, I think I’ve had ONE headache. This is HUGE, y’all.

This is the brand I started taking (because it’s what I had on hand), and I just purchased a new bottle (pictured) at my local health food store last week.

Secondly, a friend let me borrow her roller-ball bottle of doTERRA Past Tense essential oil blend.  I know it doesn’t work for everyone, but it sure works for me! I just roll a bit of the oil onto wherever hurts – my neck, temples, and forehead. If you’ve ever used “Icy Hot” gel, it feels a bit like that – kind of a cold burn sensation. But after I apply it once or twice, usually my headache starts to fade.

It works so well that I paid the $20 to purchase my own bottle (my friend is a doTERRA rep) – if I don’t have to take over-the-counter painkillers anymore, it’s totally worth it!

Have you tried either of these products? Do you think you will? What natural products work for your headaches?
