Pondering on this tonight, and this how I desire to live my life:
“If we get overlooked for affirmation or promotion, so be it. Let’s just do our jobs.
If we get elevated and celebrated, so be it. Let’s just do our jobs.
Let’s pursue a walk with God so close that the spotlights of this world – be they for us or against us – are eclipsed by His enormous shadow cast on our path. There in the shelter of the Most High, we find our significance and the only satisfaction of our insatiable need to be noticed.
[God’s people] are called to pour out the drink offering of their lives until the cup is overturned and every drop of energy slips – perhaps unnoticed, uncelebrated – into the vast ocean of earthly need.”
(from Beth Moore in Esther: It’s Tough Being a Woman)
Wow wow wow. What a freeing, God-glorifying way to live. I want that. Do you?
Also: I’m so relieved to know I’m not the only one who has an “insatiable need to be noticed”!
Whatever God has called you to do, sister, do it, for Him and Him alone. And know that though no one else may notice, He – the God who sees – sees and takes pleasure in you.
